There is beauty in simplicity. Walking along the beach I came across these stones looking back up at me and decided to take them home. Using a flashlight and rusted kitchen countertop I stacked and re-stacked; this image was the result.

Muay Thai

For the last three weeks I've been practicing Muay Thai at 6:00AM every morning and it's been kicking my butt. I love it. I can't get enough of it. Here are a few shots of legitimate Muay Thai fighters that I photographed a few weeks ago... they're amazing to watch in the ring. If you've never seen this kind of fighting in action check it out on YouTube or find a fight night in your area... hoping to jump in the ring someday as well (as long as I don't damage my index finger or my right eye I'll be go to go).

The Art Of Champagne

Today I learnt that when you open up a bottle of Champagne and even though you might not have shaken the bottle prior to de-corking, the probability of it fuzzing up and splashing everywhere is extremely difficult to avoid... yes, if fuzzed and splashed everywhere, however, here's the shot of the day. I was inspired to shoot this while on a flight from Moscow to Manhattan.

These photos are of 900 year old Russian Orthodox churches constructed completely out of wood that still stand today. No glue, no nails, just wood stacked on wood. The temperatures in Russia this last trip seemed colder than normal, but the scenes were to good to keep me indoors. I'd like to document the Russian subway systems the next time that I'm in Moscow because every "stop" contains entirely different statues, mosaics, paintings and artwork making it feel more like a museum than it does a form of public transportation... except for the average of 7 million commuters using the systems in any given workday making Moscow the second busiest subway system in the world.

There's no place like Haight Street. In all my of my travels, some of the most interesting and beautiful people live right here in San Francisco. Sparkles Trouble Divine is a young woman who I met that changed my perspective about those who live on the streets. Some of the most amazing individuals you'll ever meet could be right outside your door... keep your eyes open for those diamonds in the rough, you never know where you might find them.

As a photographer, traveling always seems to be in the deck of cards. Although Russian winters sustain incredibly uncomfortable temperatures that are difficult to endure, the scenery makes it worth every second spent out in the cold. Trees have always seemed to represent wisdom and humility to me... and when they're from a far away land they become even more fascinating.

These are shots taken in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia on my latest overseas trip to the far east. It took 8 hours to walk through 1/3 of the old Czar palace and every room had different ceilings, floors, and artwork. If your interested in artwork, from Picasso to Van Gough to Rembrandt, then the Hermitage is a must see.
